A few weeks ago we sent a survey to The Tribe. The results showed us something about our list that is true of the entire industry. Oilfield revenue is largely driven by small businesses.
Nearly 90% of the oil produced in America comes from small independent oil companies. Over 90% of US natural gas production comes from small independent operators.
Likewise, we found over 90% of you are small business owners. The true backbone of the industry. You are the nimble operators, midstream, downstream, and service companies. Without you, this industry could not succeed.
When Americans hear “oil” they automatically think BP, ExxonMobil, and Shell. But these Super Majors could not exist without you. Because you are the true pioneers.
Without you, plays would never heat up. Without you, mid-sized operators wouldn’t know where to buy acreage. Without you, the rest of the industry can’t find oil, get it to where it needs to go, or turn it into the final products that make modern civilization possible.
Without you, there is no oil industry. If you don’t generate oilfield revenue, no one does.
99 Problems & Everyone Has One
If you run an upstream oil company, you’re hurting right now. Oil prices have dropped, and so has has business. You are struggling to meet payroll. You are struggling to keep the lights on. You don’t know where the next dollar is coming from.
Whether you’re an operator, mineral investor, or service company, upstream is a hard place to be. How do you attract investors in a down market? How do attract mineral owners who want to lease acreage when oil prices have dropped by 50%?
If you’re a midstream entrepreneur you might be doing just fine. Midstream companies are weathering the storm because the vast majority of wells have moved from drilling to production. Production means hydrocarbons have to get from the wellhead to their final destination.
But how do you grow marketshare when competition is fierce? How do you prove you are a trusted resource operators can feel comfortable adding to their approved vendor list? How do you attract more customers who need to move product?
If you run a downstream shop your problems are the precise opposite of upstream. You refine hydrocarbons and make widgets. The cost of manufacturing widgets just dropped by 50%.
But how do you attract the ideal customer for your widgets? If you’re a service company that works downstream, how do you get your foot in the door?
For example, Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) is a major business driver across the oilfield. You don’t have to look any further than BP Downstream’s homepage to see HSE’s importance.
In 2014 we saw continued improvement in our process safety… – BP Downstream
But if you’re an HSE consultant, how do attract downstream companies who need your services? Your market is going to grow to $56 billion by 2030. How do you get the biggest slice of that pie?
Time vs. Money
In business, you either have more time than money, or more money than time. This isn’t an abstract statement. It’s a fact I’ve lived for nearly 7 years.
Almost every person I follow online offers courses, consulting, coaching, and every other revenue growth service you could image. Unfortunately, I’ve never had the money to pay them.
It has taken me 7 years to teach myself how to master all of the skills that go into exponential growth. I must give Drillinginfo a heavy hat-tip for investing so much in me. Without them, I wouldn’t know Sandler Selling, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), brand storytelling, or any of the insanely successful marketers who have become my friends and mentors.
Jay Baer taught me Youtility. Marcus Sheridan taught me the “they ask you answer” philosophy that transforms your brand into the Wikipedia or your industry. Mark Schaefer taught me compassion for my clients. Doug Karr taught me to wreck shop. Period.
Many of you are just like me. You might not have the money for a Tribe Rocket Annual Subscription. But you have the time to invest to personally master these skills and put them to work in your business.
I want to teach teach you exactly how it’s done.

Drillinginfo’s Perpetual Return on Investment (Any Content Lives Forever–Great Content Ranks Forever)
Keywords are the words you type into Google to find answers to your questions. Ranking first on Google means traffic for your website. If your website has the right architecture, that traffic “converts” into leads. If you have the right brand story those leads become sales.
In my time at Drillinginfo I targeted 13 keywords. To this day Drillinginfo ranks first for these keywords. And they’re not even paying me anymore! Here are the specifics.
- 13 Target Keywords
- 23,540 searches per year
- 1,962 searches per month
- 64 searches per day
Let’s pause and reflect on that for a moment. Drillinginfo still receives nearly 2,000 website visitors every month from people clicking on articles I produced as long as two years ago.
Oilfield Revenue University will give you the blueprint to drive crazy traffic to your website just like Drillinginfo.
He now outranks billion dollar competitors across countless coveted keywords.
Using the tactics you will learn in Oilfield Revenue University modalpoint closed the largest deal in company history in Q4 2014. 10 times its average deal size! Mark used to have a team making cold calls. Today he doesn’t do ANY outbound sales. In fact, he had to hire a sales guy just to handle all of his inbound leads.
Oilfield Revenue University Alumni will have access to all of the tactics and strategies that produced these results. The members who relentlessly execute “the formula” will follow in his footsteps.
What Do I Get if I Join Oilfield Revenue University?
